Dear Parents, 1. We had a great start to the 2016-2017 School Year with our new students today. They were greeted and welcomed by student ambassadors, faculty, staff, even the Pep Band.
2. All new students, including 7th graders, may pick up their laptops on Tuesday, Aug. 30 (tomorrow) at either 5:30 or 6:30 pm in the Library. There is a brief presentation on caring for the laptop, and then students must login for the first time here at school. Returning students will receive their laptops during the school day on Tuesday.
3.Homecoming is just a little over a month away, and I know that many of our high school girls are already out looking for dresses. We encourage girls to borrow dresses, shop thrift stores, etc. to keep costs down. We do have a dress code at our formal dances, so please keep these restrictions in mind:
We don't want to have to send anyone home because of an inappropriate dress. That would certainly ruin the event for her. We ask that parents determine if the dress is modest beforehand. Please make sure that your daughter tries her dress on for you, and that it meets our dress code for formal dances. If you have any questions about its appropriateness, send me a photo.
4. A reminder that Cathedral students do not carry backpacks during the school day. The main reason has to do with their laptops, which should never be placed inside a backpack. Help your student problem solve about which books need to be taken home at night. If the student has access to an online text, there's no need to carry a heavy book back and forth.
5. There is no school on Friday, in order for everyone to have a nice long holiday weekend.
Inspired and informed by Catholic tradition, our
mission is to educate people while inspiring them to virtuous lives.
