A Message to Parents

Dear Parents,

For those of you with hungry kids, here is some important information regarding lunch at Cathedral.  Our lunches are so popular that students often take more than one lunch or entree.  It's easy for students to say, "I'll have a second entree or second 

dessert."  Like all kids, they don't think about the extra cost associated with these extras, and parents have to deal with a lunch account that disappears quickly.  It's important that you have a conversation with your student, so that they know how much or how many extras they may take each day.  A recap of lunch prices:

  • Regular meal: $3.20
  • Premium meal: $3.95
  • Salad/Sandwich Bar: $5.50
  • Second entree: $1.45
  • Second premium entree: $1.70
  • Extra fruit, milk, or dessert: $.55

I often see students with several entrees on their trays.  They are hungry; the food looks and tastes great. Many of them go directly to a sport or activity right after school, and they may not eat until 7:00 or later in the evening. These are all good reasons for filling up their plates.  I just want to make sure that our parents understand how/why lunch money goes so fast!

On a related note, our students can order a sub sandwich/chips/fruit/drink to be picked up after school at the A la Carte window.  They can specify the kind of meat and bun they prefer - all this for $5.00.  This is a great opportunity for athletes leaving for a game or other after school activities. It's best if students stop there in the morning before school to order this meal.  These requests can be charged to their lunch account. 

An important message from our Advancement Office:

The CHS Spiritshop is open for business for the new school year with new items and some clearance items as well! A free lanyard with purchase while supplies last!

Where?--In the South building across the hall from the Activities Office

When?--Beginning on 9/5/17, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:45am-8:30am AND Wednesdays and Fridays from 2:45pm-3:30pm.

We will also have special evening hours available during events such as conferences, Open House, etc. And of course, if you need something and you aren't able to make our posted hours, just let us know! We are happy to help out at any time.

We are looking for some parent volunteers who might be willing to help staff the store during some of these hours.

We do have an online store also, which you can visit by going to our website, and clicking on the CHS STORE tab on the main page. Visit often, as we run different promotions and offer new items--ones that are not available in the store.

Don't forget - there's no school on Friday (Sept. 1) of this week and Monday (Sept. 4) of next week.  Even though we start school early, this gives families one last long weekend for summer activities.
