A Message to Parents

Hello and Welcome to October!

It is hard to believe that we are beginning our second month of this fantastic school year.  It is a fun and refreshing time of the year. I have a great deal to update you on. I am sorry for the length of this EBLAST, but we want you to know what is happening at CHS!

National Yearbook Week – We want to thank and congratulate Dan Nelson, Charlie Hoffman and our entire Yearbook Staff for the work they do.  They capture the spirit of CHS and save the many memories for all of us. We show them our gratitude this, and every week!!

Leadership Conference – We are excited to host the Granite Ridge Leadership Conference at Cathedral on Wednesday, October 3rd.  Student captains and leaders will be here to experience a host of speakers and experiences.  We welcome them to our great campus!!

Online Lunch Program – You will receive a special email early in the week regarding the change in services.  Please watch for it!

Speech Informational/Organizational Meeting – The CHS Speech Team is encouraging all parents and students to consider attending the informational meeting on Wednesday, October 10 from 4:30 – 5:30 in room S107.   Speech is a multi-faceted organization. We hope you will join us for information and (hopefully) inspiration. If you have questions please contact Liz Hamak at

hamakelizabeth@cathedralcrusaders.org

Guatemala Visit - As many of you know, every year Cathedral hosts a small group of students from Guatemala for approximately 7 weeks.  This year’s visit begins on October 16 and ends December 9th.    We are looking for families who would be willing to host one student at this time. These students provide an opportunity to learn and share cultural experiences.  To learn more about program – click here

If you are interested in hosting, or learning more about the program, contact

Paul A. Bowden - Director of International Admissions.  He can be reached at

320-257-2145.

Parents as Partners – All Saints Academy is hosting a speaker (focusing on mental health and wellness) and light dinner.  This is a wonderful opportunity for families to gain strategies and ideas on how to navigate the challenges of developing our children as people.  The RSVP Link is here: https://goo.gl/forms/lm5fFOo28qlGA1li2

Please know that the Cathedral Parent Council has a menu of opportunities for parent development and growth that will be shared via this venue.  Please stay tuned and if you have topics that you would like to have as our focus, please let us know.

Book Club - Nicole Reuter is offering to lead a book discussion group for parents of tween/teen girls four Monday evenings through October and November. She has led parent book discussions as a middle school guidance counselor in her "former life" and is now finding herself on the other side wanting connection and to validate the normalcy of all this change. They group will be reading Untangled: Guiding Teenage Girls Through the Seven Transitions into Adulthood, by Lisa Damour, Ph.D. You can find the book on Amazon or at Barnes & Noble.  The group is meeting at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton on October 1st and 22nd and November 5th and 19th. (Don't worry if you missed the first one - many are joining late!) You can RSVP or ask any questions to Nicole at szmitski@gmail.com.
