A Message from the Principal

Dear Parents,

If we need to make changes to our Welcome Back All Family Picnic scheduled for tonight, I will send out that announcement by 1:00 pm today. Rain is in the forecast. Our cafeteria cannot hold more than 300 or so people, and we hate to have wet traffic on the gym floor so early in the year. Stay tuned.

Returning students in grades 8-11 will receive their laptops in class early next week. There are two laptop handout sessions for new families and seniors to choose from: Wednesday, August 27, 5:00 for seniors and 5:45 pm for new students and seventh graders. The same session will be offered on Thursday (Aug. 28) morning: 7:00 am for seniors and 7:20 am for new students and seventh grade students. Students and a parent must attend one of these sessions before they can receive their laptop. We will schedule a makeup the following week for those unable to attend one of these times.

You may have noticed in the St. Cloud Times this morning that Minnesota has the highest ACT scores in the nation. Our scores (last year's seniors) are significantly higher than the Minnesota scores:

Cathedral Minnesota

English 24.7 22.1

Mathematics 25.4 23.0

Reading 23.8 23.1

Science Reasoning 24.6 22.9

Composite 24.7 22.9

One of our accreditation goals for this coming year is to improve reading comprehension.

We have an opening in our food service program. The position is server/dishwasher and other duties, hours 9:00 to 1:00. Apply at the Main Office if you are interested.

A reminder that Cathedral will be peanut and tree nut safe starting this fall. Any food brought into the school must be free of peanuts and tree nuts. We all will need to start reading labels carefully.

After graduation last spring, a silver cross was turned in. The cross has engraving, " Mom, Dad, Love" and the date "5-18-14". If you have any idea whom this cross might belong to, please let us know. It's obviously a keepsake and we want to return it.
