A Message from the Principal

Thanks to the Junior Class parents who brought us treats today! We appreciate your support and the delicious lunch.

From our Chaplain, Father Ben:

Dear Parents,

I would like to mention few things. The first is that we will be having a special speaker coming to Cathedral on

December 11th. His name is Jason Evert. Jason is a nationally and world-renowned speaker on dating and relationships. He draws his message from St. John Paul II’s Theology of the Body which explores the call for all us to never “use” others in our relationships, but to always “love” them. Jason spells this out in the very concrete, addressing heartfelt questions that teens ask: What does a healthy relationship look like? How far is too far? How do I look for a great friend or a future soulmate? In the weeks leading up to this talk, I will, in this eBlast, give you a feel for what he will be presenting. Many teens have found Jason very engaging and the message of Theology of the Body truly enlightening. His website is the chastity project.com

Once again, we are offering a pilgrimage to Rome,July 19th through August 4th of 2015. It is not too late for your child to sign up! The students will have the opportunity to grow in their faith, visit extremely significant places while earning some college credits and having fun along the way! We are opening the pilgrimage up to current juniors and seniors. A first down payment of $100 will be due on Wednesday, November 26th. We are in the middle of our annual Christmas Food Drive. We hope that every family will donate food or personal items (shampoo, diapers, etc.) We'll deliver everything to Catholic Charities next Tuesday in time for them to help some families for Thanksgiving. We do take turkeys; Vicki is nice enough to let us store them in the big freezer.

Just a reminder: Grandparents' Day is next Wednesday. We hope you have sent us names of grandmas and grandpas to invite. They can register through our website through a tab on the front page. We'll start serving breakfast at 7:15 am and the morning culminates with Mass celebrated with Bishop Kettler at 9:30 am.

The Football team is conducting its semi-annual softener salt sale. This is a great opportunity to stock up on the salt you need and have it delivered right to you door - and help CHS Football in the deal. They will actually take it right to your softener if you wish. They also have ice melt for sale. The deadline to order is November 30thand delivery date is December 6th. Contact a football player to order, or call the Activities Office.
We still plan to have our practice Snow Day this Friday. Because we had the snow day last week unexpectedly, we learned a lot, and we want to put what we learned into practice. Students will find that the lessons are easier to find and clearer.
The annual Share the Spirit Concert is tonight at 7:00 pm at St. Mary's Cathedral. This concert, featuring choirs and strings from Cathedral and St. John's Preparatory School is also the opening to the holiday season. A free will offering goes to Catholic Charities as they help families at Christmas time.

All students have received information about our Magazine Fundraiser. Profits from these magazine sales go directly to our Activities Department.
Click hereto order. Cathedral's code is 2610541.
