As part of their end-of-year senior celebration, our seniors enjoy a day away from school at Cragun's Resort. This getaway and the after graduation party are planned and led by senior parents. Scott and Tammie Thyen have agreed to chair the Grad Party, but we are still in need of a chairperson for the Getaway to Cragun's. The main responsibility is organizing some food for the day, and getting and sharing information about golfing. Please let me know if you would be willing to be the lead person(s) for this event.
A reminder that this Sunday, Dec. 7 is the day for the Cathedral High School Bookfair at Barnes and Noble. Cathedral receives a percentage of all sales on that day when you name Cathedral at checkout. It's the perfect time to pick up books for everyone on your Christmas list. See you there.
The Intro to Business Class is sponsoring a Toys for Tots Drive at the Girls' Basketball game tomorrow night (Dec. 2). Cathedral students who bring an unwrapped toy will get in free - adults with a toy will be admitted for just $5. Come early for the JV game and stay for the whole night!
The Middle School Band and Choir Concert is tomorrow evening at 7:00 pm in Holy Angels. The annual Christmas Band Concert (High School) is this Thursday at 7:00 pm in Holy Angels.
The Campus Ministry students have created video prayer services to watch each week in Advent. They are on the home page of our website. Click on Advent, and you will be able to view the prayer service for each week.
January 12 is our target date for the next step in providing security for our school. The front doors, along with all other doors on our campus, will be locked during the school day. Anyone, students, parents, delivery personnel, etc. will need to push the buzzer at the right side of the front doors (west side) to be buzzed into the school. Someone in the Main Office, Rose Marsyla or Mary Henry, will be able to see and converse with the party seeking admission. Obviously this means that our students must continue to use the tunnels even after the weather improves in the spring. We will work hard to continue to offer a welcoming atmosphere, while at the same time, providing the best security for our students.
Mark your calendars for Jan. 27. Our big event during Catholic Schools Week is speaker Erin Walsh. She will speak to parents that evening on raising children and young adults in a digital age. We will open this evening up to all parents of Catholic school children in St. Cloud. It's such a timely subject and Ms. Walsh is a well-known expert in this field.
This Friday is already the mid-quarter of the second quarter of the year. It's simply flying by! You will receive midquarter reports late next week. In the meantime, check PowerSchool to make sure that your student doesn't have any missing work. If your student is certain that he/she has handed something in, but it stills shows as missing, email the teacher to check on it.
As we approach the time to start thinking about registration for next year, once again I am wondering what really makes a difference when parents choose Cathedral. Please let me know if there was some information you received, activities you attended, or a relationship that you had with someone at CHS that persuaded you to send your son/daughter here. What helped you to decide? What should we be doing to persuade new families about this great school? I am always interested in your insight.
