A Message from the Principal

Dear Parents,
The Spirit Shop will be open Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, when school is in session, 2:00 to 4:30 pm. We will have a special holiday shopping event on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 5:30 - 8:00 pm.

Parent Council has asked that we share this message:
As a Thank You to our hard working Cathedral High School teachers and staff, Parent Council asks for donations towards teacher/staff Christmas gifts that are distributed each December. Parents have the opportunity to donate in August when they complete the paperwork that is submitted at the beginning of the school year on the green sheets. Because some parents have requested that we remind them at a later date, we are again giving those who have not had a chance to contribute, the opportunity to donate any amount they wish to CHS to be used by Parent Council for the teachers/staff Christmas gifts. If you would like to do this, please drop off your donation at the front office marked “Staff Christmas Donation” by Wednesday, December 10th.
Thank you for your generosity,
Cathedral High School Parent Council

A message from Father Ben:

Hello Parents, Once again we are very excited to have Jason Evert come into our school to speak about friendships and dating in light of the Theology of the Body of John Paul II. You are all invited to join us at1 PMin the North Gym. Materials such as books and CD's will be made available for purchase after the seminar. The presentation will be until2:15. Here is alittle about him: Jason Evert has traveled to five continents to bring the message of chastity to more than one million teenagers over the past 15 years. Jason earned a master’s degree in Theology, and undergraduate degrees in Counseling and Theology, with a minor in Philosophy at Franciscan University of Steubenville.
He is a best-selling author of more than ten books, includingTheology of the Body for TeensandHow to Find Your Soulmate without Losing Your Soul.He and his wife Crystalina are frequent guests on radio programs throughout the country, and their television appearances include MSNBC, Fox News, the BBC, and EWTN. Together, they lead an international alliance of young people who promote chastity in more than 40 countries. You can look him up at his website atthechastityproject.comand see his recorded presentation. It is under the“seminars”tab and under the title of Love or Lust. Just a reminder as the holiday season approaches: any treats that come to school must be peanut free.

The Campus Ministry students have created video prayer services to watch each week in Advent. They are on the home page of our website. Click on Advent, and you will be able to view the prayer service for each week.

January 12 is our target date for the next step in providing security for our school. The front doors, along with all other doors on our campus, will be locked during the school day. Anyone, students, parents, delivery personnel, etc. will need to push the buzzer at the right side of the front doors (west side) to be buzzed into the school. Someone in the Main Office, Rose Marsyla or Mary Henry, will be able to see and converse with the party seeking admission. Obviously this means that our students must continue to use the tunnels even after the weather improves in the spring. We will work hard to continue to offer a welcoming atmosphere, while at the same time, providing the best security for our students.

Mark your calendars for Jan. 27. Our big event during Catholic Schools Week is speaker Erin Walsh. She will speak to parents that evening on raising children and young adults in a digital age. We will open this evening up to all parents of Catholic school children in St. Cloud. It's such a timely subject and Ms. Walsh is a well-known expert in this field.
