Activities Update - 10/12/12

It is Hall of Fame day at Cathedral today.

Last night:

Lexi Nepsund advanced to the section semifinals in singles in Girls' Tennis with two wins, and Greta Egerman and Erin Stocker survived a 3-set match in their quarterfinal, winning the third set in come from behind fashion in a tiebreaker to advance to the semifinals.  The semis and finals are Monday at St John's with advancement to the state meet on the line.

The Volleyball team fell to conference undefeated Albany 3-0.  Scores were 25-16, 25-23, 26-24 in a very well played match.  Sophie Harris had 21 set assists - putting her over the 1,000 mark in career set assists.  Congratulations, Sophie.

The Cathedral/SJP Girls' Swim and Dive team lost at Albany 59-41.  SJP's Sydney Wenner won the 200 IM for the Crusaders.

And, the Girls' Soccer team advanced in the Section 8A playoffs with an 8-1 win over Little Falls.  Ellie Engel scored four goals for the Crusaders.

Today is Hall of Fame day at Cathedral - and six new members will enter the Cathedral Athletic Hall of Fame.  Tina Kampa '91, Laura (Henry) Iten ' 98, Tom Eickhoff '77, Dan Meyer '77, Kelly Haws '82 and "Scoop" Reif '69 will enter the hall tonight.  In addition, Jim Henry '69 will have his #42 football jersey retired for his many accomplishments on the gridiron.

The inductees will speak to a student assembly at 2:25pm that is open to the public.  They will be inducted at halftime of tonight's football game and then guests at a reception that is open to the public at Partner's Pub in the Great River Bowl in Sartell after the game.


The Football team hosts Mora at 7pm at Husky Stadium.  The Pep Band will get things started and the Crusaderettes will dance at halftime along with the Hall of Fame and Retirement ceremonies.  If you can't make the game, you can her it live on AM-800, WVAL.


The Girls' Soccer team continues section play, hosting Alexandria at 5pm at Whitney Field.

And, the Boys' Soccer team opens section tourney play, taking on Sauk Rapids at Whitney at 7pm.
