Activities Update - 10/5/12

The Boys' Soccer team rebounded from a 1-0 halftime deficit to beat St. John's Prep 4-1.  Hayden Speaks and Austin Mareck scored for Cathedral. The Crusaders are 13-0-2 and close out the regular season at Little Falls on Tuesday.

Courtney Jones scored the game winner - the only goal of the second half - as the Girls' Soccer team beat the Johnnies 4-3.  Ellie Engel scored twice and Cia Strong added a goal for CHS.  The Crusaders are 11-3-1 and finish the regular season at Sauk Rapids on Monday.

The Girls' Swim and Dive team hosted a very competitive triangular that featured some great races at Apollo last night, with Rocori edging Sauk Centre for the top spot.  SJP's Sydney Wenner won the 100 fly and 100 breaststroke and was part of the winning 200 free relay team with CHS' Sophie Titus, Loundy Silkman, and Rose Daniels for the Crusaders.

Congratulations to Cathedral Volleyball Coach Glenda Prom.  Glenda will be inducted into the Hamline University Athletic Hall of Fame in a ceremony tonight and honored at halftime of the Pipers football game tomorrow. Glenda is still the all-time leader in kills for the Pipers and is on the Hamline leader board in many other statistics. Here is what the Hamline website says of her induction:  "In 1992, her senior season, she led the MIAC in kills and was second in digs, a very unusual pairing. She ended the season among the NCAA leaders as well in both departments. Hamline lost just six MIAC matches in her last two seasons here. A two-time All-MIAC choice, she is still involved in the game as the longtime head coach at St. Cloud Cathedral High School."  Way to go, Glenda!  We are very proud of you!

The Football team hopes to even their record as they travel to Milaca to take on the Wolves at 7pm.  If you can't make the game, you can hear it live on AM-800, WVAL. (note the different station this week due to MLB playoffs)

The Boys' and Girl's Cross-Country teams compete in the 40th annual Lions' Invite in Alexandria. The races start at 10:30am.

And, the Cathedral Bowling team takes on Brainerd and Tech at Jack's House in Brainerd beginning at 1:30pm.

Have a great weekend!
