Much happened over the weekend:
On Friday, the Girls' Basketball team continued to play well, beating Zimmerman 61-49. Sophie Harris led the Crusaders in scoring with 20 points. Jenna Januschka had 19 points and 10 rebounds and Erin Stocker chipped in 15 points for CHS. The Crusaders are now 6-1 in conference play and 9-4 overall. They have won five of their last six games.
Will Hammer had a hat trick in regulation and assisted on Austin Swingle's game-winner halfway through overtime as the Boys' Hockey team picked up perhaps their biggest win of the season, 5-4 over #4 Hermantown. Mitch Fritz scored the other Crusader goal and Austin Poganski had two assists for CHS (9-6).
On Saturday, Elena Danielson was 34th among 157 skiers in the classic race and Rachel Eickhoff was 36th in a field of 167 skate skiers at the Mesabi Invite Nordic Ski meet in Biwabik. The Crusader girls finished 14th out of 63 teams in the meet.
And - congratulations to the Crusaderettes on another successful Dance Show. The 15th annual event packed the North Gym for two great shows and over 60 entertaining performances by dancers from schools and studios from age 5 and up - and dads and guys as well. Well done by all involved.
In this forum, we tend to stick to varsity events because of time and space and the ability to gather all the information. However, I wanted you to hear this morning about our 7th/8th grade Academic Triathlon team. We just revived AT here last year under the volunteer tutelage of CHS grad John Augustin. They won the meet here at Cathedral on Friday and they have won both meets this year in just their second year back. Team members are Emily Schneider, Anthony Kampa, Josie Maus-Conn, Alexander Lee, and Tess Jacobson. Nicely done!
The Cathedral Math League team is hosting a meet here at Cathedral at 4pm.
And, we have a rare Monday hockey game as the Boys' Hockey team hosts Alexandria at 7:15pm at the MAC. This is a make-up game from December.
Have a great day!
