The Girls' Basketball team beat Becker 71-64 in the North Gym last night. Jenna Januschka set a school single-game record with 16 made free throws. She was 16-17 from the line and scored a season high 28 points to lead CHS. Sophie Harris had a nice night, adding 17 points for the Crusaders. Cathedral has won four of five to move to 9-4 on the season - including 3-1 in the last four games that were played over a tight six-day stretch.
The Boys' Basketball came from behind on the road to beat Albany 75-68. Brindley Theisen had 20 points and Brady Yoerg added 19 points for the Crusaders who erased an eight point halftime deficit. The Crusaders move to 10-1 on the season and 3-0 in Granite Ridge Conference play.
The Crusaderettes Dance Team finished second in both Jazz and Kick at the All-Area meet in Sauk Rapids last night. Sartell won the competition in both, but the Crusaderettes finished just two points behind the Sabres in Kick.
And, the Cathedral/Sartell Girls' Nordic Ski team finished third in the Mora Invite. CHS' Elena Danielson was 4th overall in the girls' field.
Some notes this morning:
Congratulations to Brindley Theisen. Brindley was named the Old Dutch Athlete of the Week. This is a weekly state-wide award sponsored by the MSHSL, WCCO Radio and Old Dutch that recognizes athletic achievements along with academic success and community involvement. Brindley leads the Crusaders averaging over 20 points per game as a sophomore and scored a career-high 33 points against Tech last Saturday.
Plan now to attend the 15th annual Crusaderettes Dance Show this Saturday. Shows are at 2pm and 6pm in the North Gym and feature area dance studios, high school teams and the Crusaderettes. Also on the program are the Guy-Girl Dance and the World-famous Dad Dance. This is a major fundraiser for the Dance Team and always a great event. Hope to see you there.
Today is Wednesday. We wish the Seniors well on their retreat today and pray that they have a good day. We get back at the games tomorrow.
Have a great day!
