Cathedral students did very, very well at the Region 5A Visual Arts Festival yesterday in New London - the best they have ever done over 10 years of the festival. CHS earned three Excellent ratings and 15 Superiors (the highest). Here are some details:
In Drawing, Jenna Schmitz received two Superior ratings and two perfect scores. Becky Berg and Francis Pineda-Fisher also had Superiors with Frances receiving a perfect score and the Spotlight Award for Drawing. In Painting, Carmen Ebel had a Superior with a perfect score and Sam Larsen earned two Superior ratings - including a perfect score and the Spotlight Award for Painting. In Media Arts, Halie Lange earned two Superiors and Jenna Reagan had a Superior. In Sculpture, Maddie Harris earned a Superior. And, in Ceramics, Mitch Fritz and Joe Jaye had Superiors and Waylon Bemboom earned two Superiors. WOW! In addition, Francis' and Sam's Spotlight Award works will be taken to the State Capital and will be on display for the month of May and they will have a reception there for the artists. Congrats to Tony Keller and all the students - Fantastic!
The Tech/Cathedral Boys' Lacrosse team lost to White Bear Lake 17-3. CHS' Zach Affeldt, Brandon Jameson and Corey Wheelock scored the St. Cloud goals.
Abby Schneider '99 is new Head Girls' Swimming and Diving Coach here at Cathedral. Abby had previously been the head coach for three years at Rocori. She takes over for Krisie Melsen who led the Crusaders for seven years.
The Boys' Golf team has a Granite Ridge meet at Little Falls at 4:00pm.
The Girls' Golf team is at the Granite Ridge meet at Milaca at 4:30pm.
The Softball team hosts Princeton at 4:15pm at Whitney.
The Boys' Tennis team travels to New London-Spicer for a 4:30pm match.
The St. Cloud Area Girls' Lacrosse team hosts Becker at Husky Stadium at 6:30pm.
And, the Baseball team welcomes Princeton to Faber Field at 7pm.
