Advanced Placement At Cathedral
Advanced Placement (AP) courses offer ambitious students an academic challenge and the chance to earn college credit. Near the end of the AP course in early to mid-May, students take an extensive CollegeBoard designed exam assessing their progress in the course. The exam is graded 1 through 5, and college credit may be granted for scores 3 and above, depending on individual college policies. Please see the attachments below for examples of this credit granting system.
At Cathedral, students receive a .5 grade bump for AP course work in recognition of both the quality and quantity of work required. (an "A" would have a value of 4.5, etc.).
