And so it begins!
Dear Students, Staff, Parents and Friends of Cathedral,
We are digging!! We are excited about the opportunities that the new addition will provide for our Cathedral Community. With construction this year, we will have to be flexible and make changes to our normal routines. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through the construction process.
We have met and developed plans for a safe and productive year. We are certain we will find challenges that we have not accommodated at this point, but we will work through issues as they present themselves. Please do not hesitate to contact me with suggestions, concerns and possible solutions. We are in this together! We will encounter short-term challenges, but the long-term result will be amazing!!
Notes to share:
Groundbreaking on the new academic building addition is this Sunday, August 11th at 11:30 a.m. Please join us for the ceremony and a picnic lunch on the North parking lot!
Our building partners McGough Construction and ATS&R Architects will begin construction the week of August 12th. This addition will be built on the North parking lot between the Center Building and North Gym. There are about 100 parking spaces in that location that we have used for student and staff parking.
Student, staff and visitor parking plans will be fluid and have been developed for the beginning of the construction process. The plan for the beginning of the school year will be shared in a separate eBlast.
Construction fencing will be put in place on August 9th. The entire parking lot and attached areas will be secured/off limits for the duration of the construction. We are estimating 12 months for the project to be complete. (See Construction Fencing Map attached.)
The construction trailer will be placed on the St. Cloud Diocese parking lot. Construction teams will be onsite between 6:30 am and into the evening to accomplish all they can while the weather is accommodating. There will be noise, large trucks and possible congestion due to the additional people and trucks on the site.
Seventh Avenue between Third Street and the North Gym will be closed for the duration of construction beginning on August 8th. (See Road Closure Map attached.) Metro bus routes and other services have been re-routed.
The tunnel connecting the Center Building and North Gym is closed and off limits beginning July 30th. We will have to use the sidewalk to the west of the construction site on 7th Avenue and walk outside to get from the North Gym to the Center Building. 6th Avenue student/staff pedestrian traffic is discouraged.
Bus and parent drop-off and pick-up plans have been developed and will be shared in a separate eBlast.
Communication relating to construction updates, changes, and challenges will be sent via eBlast and then posted on the Cathedral web page under “construction updates.” Any individual that would like to receive the eBlasts should contact Rose Marsyla at email@example.com.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this project. We are grateful for your support!
