Former CHS Football coach passes away

We lost a legend yesterday, April 14, 2016.  Dean Taylor, who coached high school football for 30 years - the last four here at Cathedral, passed away after courageously and positively battling illness for 14 years.  Dean was 70.  After starting the football program at Sartell when the school opened in 1969, Dean coached the Sabres through the 1994 season when they won the state title.  Following a couple stints as an assistant coach at St. John's, Dean returned to high school coaching here at Cathedral from 2009-2012, stepping down after the 2012 season due to his health.
Dean also umpired for many years, helped his son Steve coach at Tech, and worked and volunteered at many tournaments and events over the years, along side his wife Kathy. Kathy also worked here at Cathedral in the counseling office. Dean and Kathy were dedicated to kids. I know it sounds trite - but they just don't make them like Dean anymore.  Please keep Kathy and her family in your thoughts and prayers.  We will let you know when services are set.  Rest in Peace, Dean - you've have earned it!
