Happy Easter!

It is said God gave us 50 days of Easter and only 40 days of lent because we are a joyful people; let’s prove that true.

The final eight weeks of school are upon us as we look to May 27th and graduation day for the 124 students from the Class of 2016.  Scott Warzecha ’79 will be the distinguished alumnus speaker at 8 PM in the school’s gymnasium; all are welcome!

The Campaign for Cathedral

We continue to be on the hunt for six-figure and seven-figure gifts to The Campaign for Cathedral.  Bob and Kathy Lahr, National Volunteer Chairs, have met face-to-face with about 70 of the 200 people who have the capacity to get us over the goal.  So far, $6,700,000 has been raised with $9,800,000 to go before September 30th.  We want to meet with you; please let us know when you’re ready.  Payments can be spread over a number of years.

We should say what a profound joy and privilege it has been to sit face-to-face with dozens of our best friends to visit about Cathedral’s future.  Bob, Kathy, and I have cherished each of these visits, sometimes in private homes, often right here on campus.  We’ve said to each of these people, “your friendship is more important than your money,” and we’ve meant it.

We believe, and most we’ve met with believe, Cathedral MUST do something about its facilities or soon, very soon, it will be too late.  Cathedral is too precious an asset to leave to chance.

So, if you were to coin the Coke is it! phrase, or the Just do it! phrase for Cathedral, what would it be?  Click me back with your answer(s).

In a few days an external review team will visit our campus for three days to inspect us from A to Z on all of the hundreds of standards required for accreditation.  We will actually be attempting to earn a two-for-one accreditation as having met not only the National Catholic Standards but also those of the old North Central Association (now called AdvanceEd).  We have been continuously accredited since 1922.

A Celebration of Seasons

Please join us Saturday evening April 30th at the St. Cloud Civic Center for A Celebration of Seasons.  This is our all-school signature event and we want you to be a part of it.

Athletic Achievements

Since I last wrote to you our gymnastics team won the Minnesota championship.  It was coached by two distinguished alums, Joel ’91 and Colleen ‘91 Stark-Haws.  Our hockey team won the State of Minnesota consolation championship and our wrestling and swimming teams each earned berths in the state tournaments.  It was a good winter season as each basketball team also came within a cat’s whisker of getting into the tournament.  I reported the Dance and Skiing state tournaments to you last time.

Bountiful blessings!

Michael A. Mullin
