Scholarships for High School Students Grades 9 - 12 


Triple-Impact Competitor Scholarship by the Positive Coaching Alliance
The Positive Coaching Alliance awards scholarships of $500-$2000 (depending on location) to high school athletes, based on their responses to questions pertaining to how they meet the standard defined in Elevating Your Game: Becoming a Triple-Impact Competitor by PCA Founder Jim Thompson.
Eligibility:
• Any high school Junior (class of 2020)
• Residing in the United States
• Applicant must make positive contributions on three levels:
   • Makes oneself better (Personal Mastery)
   • Makes teammates better (Leadership)
   • Makes the sport better (Honoring the Game)
• Maintains a GPA of 2.5 or higher
• Must provide a minimum of three references
• Deadline to apply is May 31st, 2019

There are a number of local scholarships given to Cathedral High School Seniors who will be enrolled full-time in a post-secondary school next year. General Scholarships
All of the scholarships listed below must be applied for individually.


SFM Foundation Scholarship
The SFM Foundation will be awarding scholarships to children or dependents of workers injured or killed in a work related accident during the course and scope of employment with a Minnesota or Iowa based employer and entitled to receive benefits under the Minnesota Workers' Compensation Act or Iowa's Workers' Compensation Law.
Basic eligibility requirements:
• Must be a Minnesota or Iowa resident between the ages of 16 and 25 at the time of application.
• Must have a high school GED or be a high school student in good standing.
• Academic achievement, aptitude, extracurricular activities, and community service of the applicant will be considered.
• Grade point average will be reviewed against the number of hours the applicant works and his/her community involvement.
• Must be pursuing a primary college or university degree or vocational education and training from any accredited school.
• Must demonstrate financial need.
• Must submit your completed application to SFM Foundation by mail or fax no later than March 31st, 2019.

The Beautiful Mind Project - Taylor M. Brugh Scholarship
Brugh Scholars are selected primarily on the basis of leadership potential, high academic achievement, having been directly effected by mental illness/suicide, and prospects for continuing academic success.
Details:
• Complete application, including school and/or community activities you have been involved with relating to mental health.
• Submit an essay on how mental health has impacted your life, why you are applying for this scholarship and how it will help you accomplish your goals.
• Include letter of recommendation.
• Deadline to apply is April 1st, 2019. 
Taylor M Brugh Scholarship application


Eric Tenvoorde Memorial Scholarship
The Eric Tenvoorde Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to one Cathedral High School senior planning to further their education in a health care or mental health care field. One $500.00 scholarship will be given based on the applicants involvement in school and community activities and the completion of a 250 word essay detailing their passion for healthcare and/or mental health care.
Details:
• Complete application including health care related school and community activities you have been involved with.
• Submit a 250 word essay detailing  your passion for health care and/or mental health care and how this may impact your future.
• Submit your completed application to the counseling office.
• Deadline to apply is April 5th, 2019.

Vietnam Veterans Of America Juli Bailey / Mark Madsen Scholarship
Two $750.00 scholarships will be awarded to children or grandchildren who are descendants and/or relatives of a veteran of the Vietnam War. The applicant or the veteran must be a permanent resident of the Central Minnesota geographic area.
Eligibility Requirements:
• Veteran may be American or Vietnamese
• Extra-curricular, public service and work experience will all be considered
• Applicant will need to submit two written essays
• Completed applications must be received no later than April 15th, 2019

Tom Bearson Foundation Scholarship will award one $500.00 scholarship to a Cathedral High School Senior whom has shown dedication, achievement and effort in a varsity sport and plans to pursue a degree at either a Technical, 2-year, or 4-year post secondary institution.
Eligibility Requirements:
• Must be a Cathedral High School senior in the spring of 2019.
• Have a G.P.A of 2.00 or higher
• Have been a member of a Cathedral High School varsity sports team in the last two years.
• Pursuing a degree at a technical, 2-year, or 4-year post-secondary institution.
• Complete application and personal essay are due no later than April 15th, 2019.

Tom Bearson Foundation Spirit Award / Scholarship 
The Tom Bearson Foundation has created the Tom Bearson Spirit Award / Scholarship to recognize the achievements, dedication and positive spirit put forth by a Central Minnesota student athlete.  A one time scholarship of $1,500.00 will be awarded to the student athlete that best represents the attributes below.
Eligibility Requirements:
• Must be a Central Minnesota high school senior in the spring of 2019.
• Have a G.P.A of 2.00 or higher.
• Have been a member of a high school sports team during the 2018-2019 school year.
• Pursuing a degree at a technical, 2-year, or 4-year post-secondary institution.
• Students applying for this scholarship may also apply for the Tom Bearson Foundation Cathedral High School Senior Scholarship.
• Complete application and personal essay and transcript are due no later than 
May 15, 2019.
